  • Humanitarian Work - Metochia
  • Srbi za Srbe, a Serbian humanitarian organization, helped the Jovović family from Goraždevac by buying them two calves. The Jovovićs are one of the families from Goraždevac who never abandoned their ancestral home.

  • Jugoslav Stevanović and his wife, residents of the village of Goraždevac near Peć in western Kosovo. Recently, their six cows were stolen. With the money they made from selling the milk from the cows, they had been taking care of their sick grandson, Vasilije. They visited the Monastery today and their deep worry was obvious from the looks on their faces, wondering how they can continue on. The chances of the thieves being caught and the cows returned are slim.

  • Savo Banjac is a very hard working man. With funds provided by several people of good will, the Monastery helped him to return to his own home in Kosovo in 2007. Since then, he has returned the favor to us many times over with his gratitude, assistance, and friendship. Here we see him with his new cow and calf that we managed to buy for him.

  • One of the most joyful obediences is around the holidays when the gift-giving season comes around and we go to the local villages to distribute presents to the children. We’re never sure who is happier: the children receiving their presents, or us seeing them so joyful. In this picture is Bishop Teodosije, Archpriest Milenko from Velika Hoča, some of the Dečani monks, and a multitude of happy kids.

  • Thanks to our friends from Solidarité Kosovo, a French humanitarian organization led by Arnaud Gouillon, the Health Center in the village of Osojane received a new ambulance last year. The monks took care of transporting the ambulance and the necessary customs paper work, along with connecting the project with local doctors. Here, Abbot Sava, Fr. Srđan from the Diocesan Offices, the Health Center Director, and Fr Isaiah try out all of the new ambulance’s buttons.
