Ecumenical Councils - Serbian Language

The series, entitled Dečani Frescoes, is conceived in large format with concise accompanying texts and offers space, often across full or double-page spreads, for photographs of entire fresco scenes and their most captivating details. Given the variety of subjects, the series is envisaged to comprise more than thirty volumes, dedicated to Christ, the Theotokos, and the principal figures and events of the Christian tradition. The present jubilee (2025), seventeen centuries since the First Ecumenical Council of Nicaea (325), has provided the inspiration to inaugurate the “Dečani Frescoes” series with this volume, “The Ecumenical Councils.”

The photographs in this book are accompanied by brief descriptive commentaries, as the aim of this popular edition is to present visually the richness and beauty of Dečani’s frescoes to a broad readership, rather than to provide a detailed scholarly analysis.
